Short stay visa


 

Tourist or Transit

Entry clearance for tourist or transit
(Fractions I and II of Article 42 of the LGP, 90, 91, 160 and 161 of RLGP) 


The permission is applied only in cases where the National Migration Institute requires it for certain nationalities to enter the country after obtaining a visa or consular stamp.


For admission as a tourist or transmigrate with prior permission the applicant shall submit:

 

Requirements:

1. Official migratory form (immigration request), completed and signed by an applicant (original and copy)
2. Valid copy of foreigner’s passport
3. Letter to the National Institute of Migration written in Spanish and signed by the applicant, which requests tourist or transit status within the non-immigrant category, specifying the activity, places to be visited, activities to be performed and/or purpose of the journey.
4. Letter of responsibility assuming foreigner’s financial responsibility during the stay abroad, as well as the commitment of departure
5. Document proving financial solvency of foreigner
6. If procedure is performed the through a third party, a power of attorney executed before two witnesses, in which the person designates an agent to act on his behalf before the National Migration Institute (original and copy)
7. In the case of transit Visa or entry permit stating that the foreigner is authorized to enter a third country must be presented
8. In a minors case, unaccompanied by both parents, written permission, notarized and apostil by a governmental authority of the issuing country or legalized by the corresponding Mexican consulate and translated into Spanish, must be presented.

Business

Entry clearance for Business and Investor business traveler

 

For investment alternatives, making a direct investment or to oversee an investment representing a foreign company or commercial transacts a permit for up to one year and shall be authorized, supported by the FM3 immigration form, allowing multiple entry and exit and the right to four extensions.

 

Note: people on business may enter Mexico for 180 days with the migratory FMTTV in accordance with the provisions of Circular RE.1 4 August 1994, 06/95 of 28 July 1995, 018/99 of November 19, 1999, 008-2007 and 009-2008 of 3 October 2007.

 

In addition to meeting the general requirement for visitors, one must submit:

 

Businessmen

(Fraction III of Article 42 of the LGP and fraction I of article 163 of the RLGP):

 

Requirements:

1. Letter of invitation on letterhead, and written or translated into Spanish by the chamber of commerce, business association, public or private business or commercial, industrial or financial institution, stating the purpose of the visit and that the foreigner has sufficient financial backing to cover all expenses in Mexico, including all places in Mexico were business will take place (subsidiaries of the company), or
2. Accredit financial resources through a bank letter stating that monthly for a year the equivalent of five hundred days minimum wage in the Federal District, or letter of financial solvency of the company he represents for the duration of their stay in the country,
3.

If the applicant is a legal person or company with business activities, present original and copy of:

  • Incorporation of the company, or
  • Certification issued by a public notary stating the name, objects and address of the company, or
  • Last statement of taxes (or electronic receipt of the last income tax), or
  • Certification from the National Registry of Foreign Investment, or
  • Registration of the chamber, association or body concerned ç
  • These requirements do not apply for governmental agency or entity nor public institutions of higher education
  • In case a foreigner is representing the business activities, present your current immigration document (copy).

 

 

Investors

(Fraction III of Article 42 of the LGP and fraction I of the article 163 of the RLGP)

 

Requirements:

1. Present a certificate issued by the National Registry of Foreign Investment, or the documentation accrediting a minimum investment equivalent to twenty thousand days of minimum wage in the Federal District, or
2. Where the investment concerns the acquisition of real estate property, submit deed in writing stating the public sale and purchase agreement to acquire the trust rights by the trustee, for a minimum amount equivalent to forty thousand days of minimum wage in the Federal District.

 


Commercial representative

(Fraction III of Article 42 of the LGP and fraction I of the article 163 of the RLGP)

 

Requirements:

1. Letter from the foreign company that offers the appointee or legal representative of the contract or contracts between the foreign party and the Mexican party or the foreign legal person registered in Mexico, as well as places in the Mexican Republic in which you develop your business (subsidiaries of the company). The letter or contract shall be submitted on letterhead and written (or) or translated to Spanish, or
2. Accredit financial resources through a bank letter stating that monthly for a year the equivalent of half a day minimum wage in the Federal District, or letter of financial solvency of the company he represents for the duration of their stay in the country ,
3.

If the applicant is a legal person or company with business activities, present original and copy of:

  • Incorporation of the company, or
  • Certification issued by a public notary stating the name, objects and address of the company, or
  • Last statement of taxes (or electronic receipt of the last income tax), or
  • Certification from the National Registry of Foreign Investment, or
  • Registration of the chamber, association or body concerned

4. If the person representing the business is foreign, present your current immigration document (copy).


 

Foreigners realizing commercial transactions

(Fraction III of Article 42 of the LGP and fraction I of Article 163 of the RLGP)

 

Requirements:

1. Copy of contract of purchase and sale for an amount equivalent to twenty thousand days of minimum wage in the Federal District
2. Accredit financial resources through a bank letter stating that monthly for a year the equivalent of half a day minimum wage in the Federal District, or letter of financial solvency of the company he represents for the duration of their stay in the country,
3.

If the applicant is a legal person or company with business activities, present original and copy of:

  • Incorporation of the company, or
  • Certification issued by a public notary stating the name, objects and address of the company, or
  • Last statement of taxes (or electronic receipt of the last income tax), or
  • Certification from the National Registry of Foreign Investment, or
  • Registration of the chamber, association or body concerned
  • These requirements do not apply for governmental agency or entity nor public institutions of higher education
4. If the person representing the business is foreign, present your current immigration document (copy).

Work Visa

Technical or Scientific visitors

Entry clearance for Technical or Scientific Visitor

(Fraction III of Article 42 of the LGP and fraction II of Article 163 of the RLGP)


To start or run a specific investment project, providing advice to public and private institutions, make, prepare or conduct scientific research, conferences, courses or post any kind of knowledge, technical activities in developing an investment project, design or initiate the operation or construction of a plant, train other trainers under contracts previously agreed to provide services in a contract for technology transfer, patents or trademarks.


For admission as a worker with prior permission the applicant shall submit:


Requirements:

1. Request solicited by the public or private institution or a foreign national who intends to use the services of technical or scientific, in which placement is sought from abroad stating the nature of the project or activity that you will intervene, the remuneration received or the type of support that the company or institution will grant the foreigner, the estimated time of stay and the places in Mexico that were activities will be developed (on letterhead and written or translated into Spanish)
2. Document (s) to provide evidence of ability, knowledge and / or experience in the area in which the person will develop activities of technical or scientific nature such as: diplomas, certificates, accreditations, certifications or the like that demonstrate the technical, scientific, professional or academic background, apostil by the appropriate government authority of the country concerned or legalized by the Mexican consulate concerned and, where appropriate, translated into Spanish
3.

If the applicant is a legal representative for the business activities, original and copy of:

 

  • Incorporation of the company, or a certificate issued by a public  notary setting forth the name, objects and address of the company, or Last income tax payment (or Internet receipt of the last tax return), or Proof from the National Registry of Foreign Investment, or registration of the chamber, association or body concerned.

  • These requirements do not apply if it is a governmental agency or entity or a public institution of higher education.
4. If the person representing the business is foreign, present your current immigration document (copy).

Professional Visit

Entry clearance for Professional Visitors

(Fraction III of Article 42 of the LGP and fraction IV of Article 163 of the RLGP)


In case of independent professional or through the provision of services to businesses, public or private institutions.


In addition to meeting the general requirements of visitors mentioned above also submit:


Requirements:

1. Letter to the National Migration Institute by public or private institution or a foreign national who intends to use professional services, indicating the location where you work, the nature of the project or activity that, compensation and the estimated time of stay, as well as other places in Mexico that will develop this activity (on letterhead and written or translated into Spanish)
2.

If the applicant is a legal person or company with business activities, present original and copy of:

 

  • Incorporation of the company, or
  • Certification issued by a public notary stating the name, objects and address of the company, or
  • Last statement of taxes (or electronic receipt of the last income tax), or
  • Certification from the National Registry of Foreign Investment, or
  • Registration of the chamber, association or body concerned
  • These requirements do not apply for governmental agency or entity nor public institutions of higher education
3. In case the person representing the business is foreign present your current immigration document (copy)
4. In the case of independent professional, comply with the provisions of the preceding paragraph and indicate the activity and the place where business will occur.
5. Professional qualification and, where appropriate, the professional certificate issued by the Directorate General of Professions of the Ministry of Education (copy), in accordance with the Law of Professions in Articles 2 and Second Transitory. In the case of doctors a copy of the corresponding registration issued by the Ministry of Health, or authorization to the practice medicine by the subject (copy).

Legal Representative

Entry clearance for Legal representative

(Fraction III of Article 42 of the LGP and fraction V of Article 163 of the RLGP)


To assume leadership position as administrator of absolute confidence in companies, institutions or businesses established in Mexico.
In addition to meeting the general requirements of visitors, submit:


Requirement:

1. Job offer letter by the public or private institution or a foreign national who intends to receive services from abroad, indicating the location where they work, the functions or activities that develop, the remuneration they receive, as well as or places in Mexico in which you develop your business (on letterhead and written or translated into Spanish), or
2. Copy of contract (written or translated into Spanish)
3. In both cases, indicate application is subject to authorization from the immigration authorities,
4.

If the applicant is a legal person or company with business activities, present original and copy of:

 

  • Incorporation of the company, or
  • Certification issued by a public notary stating the name, objects and address of the company, or
  • Last statement of taxes (or electronic receipt of the last income tax), or
  • Certification from the National Registry of Foreign Investment, or
  • Registration of the chamber, association or body concerned
  • These requirements do not apply for governmental agency or entity nor public institutions of higher education
5. In the case of independent professional, comply with the provisions of the preceding paragraph and indicate the activity and the place where business will occur.
6. Based on the circumstances of the case, immigration authorities may request the person concerned to prove his capacity for the job intending to occupy, provided this is done without prejudice to the international treaties to which Mexico signed.

Artist or Athlete

Entry clearance for Artist or Athlete

(Fraction III of Article 42 of the LGP)


The Department shall authorize foreigners under this type of migration if it considers that the activities contribute to the creativity, artistry and sports broadcasting in the country.


The granting of this migration within the non-immigrant status may be requested by any company, institution or association, or by the foreigner or his representative when intending to perform activities independently.


In addition to meeting the general requirements of visitors, submit:


Requirement:

1. Letter to the National Institute of Migration written in Spanish and signed by the applicant, which requests migration status of artist or athlete within the non-immigrant category, specifying the activity,
2. In a minors case, unaccompanied by both parents, written permission, notarized and apostil by a governmental authority of the issuing country or legalized by the corresponding Mexican consulate and translated into Spanish, must be presented.
3.

Written on letterhead addressed to the National Migration Institute, signed by an authorized person from the employer stating your name and title, and indicating the activities that take place abroad, accompanied by:

 

  • Copy of valid official identification with photograph and signature of the person who signed the letter,
  • A copy and original of registration with the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit in stating the activities performed, and
  • A copy and original of last tax payments filed (or via Internet electronic receipt of the last tax return).
4. In the event that the artist or the athlete intends to perform activities independently, a letter from abroad or his representative indicating the activities that will take place abroad.

Entrust

Entry clearance for entrust

(Fraction III of Article 42 of the LGP and fraction III of Article 163 of the RLGP)


To live from deposits brought from abroad, the income it produces, and from any income from abroad or from their investments.
The annuitant must demonstrate the required minimum amount set by the General Population Act regulations. The immigration authority may permit the foreigner certifying to the equivalent of fifty percent of such amount by demonstrating the acquisition of real estate property for use as his / her house.


In addition to meeting the general requirements of visitors, submit:

 

Requirement:

1. Proof of a minimum monthly income equivalent to two hundred fifty times the general daily minimum wage stipulated in the Federal District,
2. If seeking approval for dependent relatives, stated monthly rate will increase in one hundred twenty-five times the current minimum wage in Mexico City, per person financially dependent on him, and
3. The sums mentioned above shall be verified by letter from the financial institution, Mexican or foreign bank or institution in which trust is established that the person has at least the minimum monthly wage set.

Associate Minister of Culture or Religious

Entry clearance for Associate Minister of Culture or Religious

(Fraction IV of Article 42 of the LGP and 164 of the RLGP)


To perform social work and philanthropic assistance that coincide with the aims of the religious association to which one belongs provided that the institution holds pre-registration before the Ministry of Interior and overseas, minister of religion or a partner in the terms of the Law of Religious Associations and Public Worship.

 

Requirement:

1. Official migratory form (immigration request), completed and signed by an applicant (original and copy)
2. Copy and, where appropriate, original all pages of valid foreigner’s passport 
3. If interested party is pursuing the process through an agent or legal guardian, it must be accredited with power of attorney granted by the foreigner, and a copy of a valid official identification containing a photograph and signature of the attorney or legal representative, as appropriate
4. Spanish letter signed by the applicant, addressed the National Migration Institute, which under oath expresses the purpose of the visit to Mexico and the activity sought and geographical areas where functions will take place (original and copy)
5. Prove of registration of the religious association with corresponding records issued by the Ministry of the Interior or any other document showing definitively that such record,
6. Submit written report of the Secretary of State. Prior to the application of that procedure, the foreigner, whose case is pending approval by the immigration Minister of Worship and Religious organizations
7. Submit irrefutable proof to the satisfaction of the immigration authorities, the perception of periodic and continuous funds for his financial solvency

Student visa

Entry clearance for Student

(Fraction VII of Article 42 of the LGP and 168 of the RLGP)


To start, finish or continue studies in formal educational institutions or campuses, or recognized with official recognition of validity or for studies that do not require official recognition.

 

Requirement:

1. Official migratory form (immigration request), completed and signed by an applicant (original and copy)
2. In a minors case the application shall be signed by the person exercising parental authority by his tutor or the person under whose supervision and care will live in the country
3. Copy and, where appropriate, original all pages of valid foreigner’s passport
4.

Proof of registration by the foreigner in the school with official recognition where studies will be performed, or:

 

  • Charter school without official recognition made on official letterhead and signed by authorized person stating the acceptance of foreign registration.

  • In any case, the document must specify the level, degree, course or areas of study that foreigner seeks to make overseas
5. Letter in Spanish signed by foreigner, addressed to the National Migration Institute, indicating under oath the level and type of studies proposed to be made and the school or school concerned will develop studies (original)
6. The foreigner must prove to the satisfaction of the immigration authorities and continuously continued receipt of financial means for support,
7. If pursuing the process through an agent or legal guardian, foreigner must accredit with power of attorney granted by the foreigner, and a copy of a valid official identification containing a photograph and signature of the attorney or legal representative, as appropriate.
To apply for approval of remunerated activities for professional practice and social service organizations, present a certificate issued by the institution or school where you are pursuing their studies, which indicate that these activities are part of the curriculum.


 

Correspondent visa

Entry clearance for Correspondent

(Fraction XI of Article 42 of the LGP and 172 of the RLGP)


To develop as journalists, reporters, columnists, reporters, photographers and something similar, for print media, radio, television and other media.

 

Requirements:

1. Official migratory form (immigration request), completed and signed by an applicant (original and copy)
2. Copy and, where appropriate, original all pages of valid foreigner’s passport
3. Spanish letter signed by the applicant, addressed the National Migration Institute, which under oath expresses the purpose of the visit to Mexico and the activity sought and geographical areas where functions will take place (original and copy)
4. Prove or demonstration of appointment or performance of the activity by an authentic evidence of the foreign media for providing their services, and
5. Establish that the foreign media and the correspondent are registered with the Ministry of Interior,
6. For correspondents who perform activities on their own, submit a letter of support for foreign media, and
7. For national media due on the respective document must be signed by an authorized official of the company.
8. If the placement abroad is intended to cover a specific event and shall require the presentation of authentic evidence of the corresponding foreign media, under the terms stated in the previous paragraph, specifying the information, dates and places of the event. Permission may be granted for up to ninety days of temporary employment, according to the immigration authorities, taking into account the actual duration of the activity, with multiple entry and exit, extended at the discretion of the immigration authorities.
9. In the event that the foreigner intends to pursue an activity on an ongoing basis for a national or foreign media, present reliable documentation attesting their capacity and experience in the field as well as written approval issued by the Interior Ministry in establishing that correspondent is recorded. Placement may be permitted up to one year and up to four extensions can be granted temporary alike, with inputs and outputs, and
10. In any case, the evidence must be presented showing that the correspondent is employed with employment or service fee for foreign media, for a specific event, or working on their own or to foreign media or national routinely and permanently or for a specific event.
The permanent correspondents must be accredited as such with the Secretary of the Interior, prior to any request migration and in the case of specific events indicate in application the event in question and where that will take place and temporality as requested.

Family visa

Permit of Stay for Economic Dependent

(Article 42 of the LGP)


Any foreigner who enters the country as a nonimmigrant, may have spouse and immediate family members apply in order to be issued the same migrant status and temporality of Non-Immigrant, if not holding an own immigration status.

 

Requirements:

1. Request official form of immigration, duly filled and signed in original and copy,
2. Letter in Spanish signed by the Non-Immigrant, addressed to the National Migration Institute, which expressly applies for Economic dependent mode in the migratory status of nonimmigrant and explicitly  assumes financial responsibility for the foreigner (original)
3. Proof of relationship to the holder by birth and / or marriage, if necessary, issued or legalized by the corresponding Mexican
3. consulate and translated into Spanish,
4. Copy and, where appropriate, original of all the pages of valid passport of the foreigner,
5. In the case of a spouse, proof must be submitted in addition to the marital home,
6. In case of minors, notarized permission from parents, apostil by governmental authority of the issuing country or legalized by the corresponding Mexican consulate and translated into Spanish,
7. A copy of valid immigration applying for immigration status for family or relatives,
8. The applicant shall demonstrate solvency in your financial situation, which should be sufficient, according to the immigration authorities, to meet the needs of the family and
9. If pursuing the process through an agent or legal guardian, it must accredited by power of attorney granted by the foreigner, and a copy of a valid official identification containing a photograph and signature of the attorney or legal representative, as appropriate.

Other visitors

Permit internment for Other Visitors

(Fraction VIII of Article 42 of the LGP)


Visitors are not covered in previous arrangements and seeking to engage in the exercise of gainful activity or not, whenever lawful and honest, may have permission to stay in the country up to a year.

 

Requirements:

In addition to meeting the general requirements of visitors in the hospital must submit:

1. Reliably verify the activity seeks to develop in the country, or
2. Where appropriate, submit documents establishing ties with Mexico

Human Rights Monitor

Visitor entry permit for Human Rights Monitor
(Fraction VI of Article 163 of GPAR)

 

In addition to meeting the general requirements of visitors in the hospital must submit:

 

Requirements:

1. Attach if applicable, certified copy of the charter or instrument evidencing the legal existence of the NGO, with its translation into Spanish, certifying that that organization has a minimum of five years at time of the application, or show consultative status with ECOSOC of the United Nations,
2. Document proving full membership of the NGO,
3. Program working to bring activities, institutions to visit or interview, or the states and localities seeking to visit,
4. Documents, registers or certificates evidencing previous experience abroad in connection with activities carried out,
5. When the visit is the result of an invitation from a NGO or Mexican institution, submit a letter of invitation issued by a person legally empowered, for Mexican institutions certify the requirements of the numeral one
6. In the case of a human rights observer who does not belong to a Non Governmental Organization shall prove to have experience in activities intended to develop, and
7. For visitors who are within its purpose of providing grants must comply with applicable regulations.

Electoral Visitors

Permit internment for Electoral visitor is to know

Knowledge the peculiarities of the development of state or federal elections if necessary.
In addition to meeting the general requirements for visitors in the submit:

 

Requirements:

1. All applications must be endorsed by the federal or local election agency concerned, as the electoral process to be covered, and
2. The applicant must prove beyond a doubt that he/she belongs to an organization, institution or association whose objectives are consistent with the activities it wants to do, same that will support your application and prove responsibility for fully covering expenses arising from the foreigners stay in the country.
